Arnold made the right call...

I am sure everyone has heard about the latest person (Stanley Tookie Williams) to be removed from this earth by lethal injection. I am also sure that you heard of the celebrity protesters and how Euros are outraged at Arnold for denying this convicted killer clemency. Give me a break! I understand that the EU does not allow capital punishment and several US states do. I think Euros have several issues they can focus on in their area and not be pre-occupied with the plight of a co-founder of one of the deadliest gangs in the US. How about we talk about the people who died as a result of Tookie? Does anyone feel sorry for them? So, Tookie wrote some kids books and got educated in the big house...Uh, great for him, but there are still people dead BECAUSE of him.

I don't live on the leftcoast, but Arnold made the right decision on this issue.

Is this really a pic of Ah-nold or photoshoped? It would be funny if he posed for that after we wbeat Lakers

OK, then answer me how the death of this man has made life better? How was he a threat to society?

Why do we kill people who kill people to show that killing people is wrong?

Death Penalty does nothing to deter crime in any way.

If someone is going to commit murder, do you honestly think they stop and and think about the legal ramifications of their actions?

What about the time it takes for people to be on deathrow? Also, the statistics of people who have been found out to be innocent by DNA evidence alone should give someone pause about the death penalty.

shiqipo,
The pic IS real. Our hot gov (you MUST admit the MI gov is the hottest of all the govs in the US...LOL!) and Arnold made a "friendly bet" that if the got beat in the nba finals (2004), then the losing gov would wear a jersey from the other team and eat some unique foods/drinks from the winner's state...we rocked the Lakers and Arnold followed thorugh on the bet...Hilarious pic.

d,
ahhh...the over-worked death penalty argument...i am sure abortion and assisted suicide feel left out that they are not getting any run in this dialogue....;p

Life has been made better for the families and others impacted by the murder victims...NO ONE is a threat to society locked in box, but our tax dollars are threatened and subsequently wasted on keeping these people consuming resources...

Neither of us was around when the death penalty became law in CA, but if I lived there and had a vote, I certainly would vote for it (seeing the fine print, of course) since I think the issue of overcrowded jails is VERY serious.

The criminal element is usually undeterred by anything anyway. Like you said, they kill no matter what...why should they be afforded food, shelter and the option of education locked in the pen when kids outside in society are lacking in such things?

DNA evidence had nothing to do with Tookie Williams. I agree in cases where SURE evidence is not discovered, but cases in which clear, documented and unrefuted evidence is present, the death penalty is fine by me...

Mike, "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth leaves the world Blind and Toothless" ~Gandhi

Better pick up that New Testament Boy-o and read Luke 6:27-36

J,
It took 30 years to kill this man. Dont give me that overcrowding lie, because if that were the case, they would have killed him in a year.

Rehabilitation. Not everyone who goes to jail deserves to be there. There is something as forgiveness. Personally, if I am murdered by someone, I would never want them to be killed. I would forgive them for what they did. Sometimes people make mistakes...dont you think that they think about that mistake over and over again for the rest of their life? Some people want to better themselves. Should we just throw away the key and forget about these people?

Hell, even Mass Murderers like Stalin Died in his bed, and PolPot is under house arrest.

My point with the DNA was just to give you an example of how innocent men can and have been put to death by the state and the government for doing nothing wrong.

"I would rather 100 guilty men go free then one innocent man go to prison."

d,
bravo for the gandhi quote, but maybe people that have no regard for the life of another would respond better to some old school, old testament treatment...these arguments are amazing when we remove ourselves from them and speak as if everyone should just accept things with the absence of a reaction that is not a peace protest with robes and sandals, but sorry, if someone takes the life of one close to me, then that person's right to life should cease to exist. Grant it...the burden of proof should be obvious and of no question...let's make that clear.

Are you saying that ANY AND ALL violent acts against criminals should stop? Guy shoots other guy. Cop see this. I guess the cop should just drop his gun and ask the criminal to surrender so he can “rehabilitate” himself…..Please……….

As far as the overcrowding "lie" goes, peep the Learning Channel once in a while and learn that it does exist or peep your paycheck for the tax that gets removed to support these jokers...society has rules, break them, you just forfeited your rights...i am speaking of violent offenders....they will NEVER see freedom again, therefore, AFTER Due Process (which I agree everyone has the right to) has been exhausted, bye-bye...God can forgive and I agree with that, but in terms of eternal life is where none of us have been to, so on this earth, adios....
Was Stalin or PolPot in the US? Uh....not last time I checked...stay on topic...I am giving a slant of my opinion on the US perspective.
I agree with you on DNA. NO issues there....

Hm... I don't know if I should get in between cuzs. But, since I live for arguing - what the hell. the d said "Sometimes people make mistakes..." Very true! How do we know we made mistakes? Because there are CONSEQUENCES associated with them. And I'm not talking about just seeing someone (or 3 at once, in Tookie's case) drop on the ground giving their last breath as blood spurts out of their wound and mouth after you just shot them. Very true, we make mistakes. Considering taking someone's life to be just an "innocent mistake" is a far-fetched one, but let's just say it can be "a mistake." Normally mistakes are allowed once. So, after one makes this "mistake" and kills one, what do you call it when this person goes again and kills not one, but 3 other people AT ONCE? I wonder how "life threatening" were 2 Chinese women and a 70+ Chinese man to Tookie, despite all the kung-fu they might have practiced? Last time I checked, Tookie was almost as huge as Ah-nold!

I wonder if he said after he shot them "oops! my bad" and then turned around and shot the other one "oops! my bad again."

I have to agree with you that people rehabilitate and repent for their mistakes. Honestly, if someone is facing the hangman and doesn't say they're rehabilitated, this person would be pretty fucking stupid. It's amazing how "repent" when we see ourselves in danger.

And yes, like J said, why do I have to pay so some m.f. killer can take his fucking degree while "rehabilitating?" If he was so fond of school, why didn't he do it before he went to jail and pay out of his own pocket. I wonder if he even paid any taxes - EVER! Do you think that, if you went to him and ask him "hey bro, I'd like to get a Ph.D., can you spare some change" he'd actually be nice to you? Yeah, he might have spared some... bullets.

DNA thing, that's the only thing I agree with. I don't think he was convicted based solely on DNA evidence though.

And last but not least, what about all those hundreds (or more) ppl that were killed by the gang he created? Were they just a "mistake" too?

J, I think Ah-nold is eating pasties! :)

You paint a bleak human condition. Your world is a sad one. One should have the hope that things will get better. society is to blame for many crimes. You would rather treat the symptoms then the disease?

Also, alleged shootings. We all know how honest and true the California justice system is to the Black man.

Co-founder is not correct. The Crips were around for 5 years before he joined them, and they were called the Baby Cribs. Are the sins of the father laid upon the son?

Sure, you dont want to pay for murderers...but you are...and you will for as long as you live. Where do you want to put criminals? How do you want to take care of them? Instant killings?

I think you should move to Singapore. I think they only had two murders last year. Everyone is safe...so safe...but not free. But what is freedom? to some people, Freedom is the ability to cut off someones hand becuause they stole a dvd from you. To others

Things are not Black and White. They never are.

"society is to blame for many crimes" is the quote of the year ladies and gents...We should have no order..anarchy anyone? How about free will being at the foundation of crime? Choices get people locked up and also keep them out of a cage.

ok, you win (not really, but I will agree to disagree) and I will keep my eye on one-way ticket prices to Singapore and try not to spit on the cement or chew gum or anything crazy like that....gotta go burn some incense now......

Look, what good are the laws? The good people dont need them and the bad people dont listen to them? I always consider myself a Pacifist Anarchist.

Death to Amerika!

LMAO! That one-way ticket to Singapor sounds pretty damn good especially now that death is looming over Amerika :P

Love that "quote of the year!" What exactly is "society" though? Isn't it...us? I think I'm part of the society, JD thinks so too, and I'm sure you and everyone else thinks the same. So I guess you and I should take the blame about some Tony Montana wannabe? I refuse to do so, I have enough blame to take for my own actions :P
